The Story of the Kitsune and the Demon (鬼と狐の話), shortened as The Story of the Kitsune (狐の話), and also known as The Onibi series, is Masa's most well-known and infamous series.

The Fox's Wedding Pouches
Masa released limited-edition pouches with artwork, and under the items describes something called "the fox's wedding."

Story Overview
Written by Gomi on the -MASA WORKS DESIGN- Amino.
The Onibi series, also known as the Kitsune's and the Demon's Story, begins in a place called Castle Town and mainly focuses on the Shishikusa Clan, who live in the middle of the town.
Consisting of Ryou Shishikusa, maiden name Onidzuka, Mai Shishikusa, her daughter, Tomonari Shishikusa, Ryou's husband and Mai's father, Shizune Shishikusa, their adopted daughter, Daiji, their bodyguard, and other clan members.
The basement of the family holds ceremonies and performances where the Shishikusa Clan makes the most of their money.
One day, Tomonari tells Ryou they need to do something more entertaining for their audience, as the daimyos are bored of just acting.
They suggest the kidnapping and murder of a girl in front of an audience, in which Ryou promptly slaps Tomonari to try to knock some sense into him. But after failing to convince him not to go with the plan, she reluctantly agrees.
A girl with long, white hair is captured and brought to the Shishikusa representatives.
They tie her up, lock her in the basement, and put a bag over her head. When this girl was captured, strange incidents occurred in Castle Town. On the day of her dissection, she is set in front of an audience.
The bag from her head is removed, and it's revealed that this girl is Akari Oborodzuka, who comes from the Oborodzuka Clan, which is a clan that had previously made contracts with gods, resulting in most of the family being born with disabilities and/or powers.
Akari came to be without disabilities, thankfully, but was born with strange white hair, which turns red when she feels significantly stressed or angry. Her eyes also glow red when this happens.
The executioner drops his blade and starts to violently convulse until he collapses and dies on the spot. Other strange occurrences happen, and Ryou has had enough. She pulls out her demon blade and attacks Akari, causing her intestines to splatter about.
Akari curses at Ryou, beginning to cry, impersonating Mai as she weeps and screams in pain, telling her that it hurts.
Ryou doesn't give in and stabs her a second time. When Akari stops moving, Ryou turns to the audience, spreads her bloodied hands, and begins to laugh.
But before Akari dies, she curses Ryou's family with the abnormality of eating people that will continue for one hundred years to come. When Akari is announced dead, they bury her in a shrine on the outskirts of Castle Town, leaving the Shishikusas with this curse.
Sometime after Akari's death, Mai is kidnapped by "a strange man with snake eyes," as she describes him, who remains nameless, though fans call him Kanishiro.
As revenge for the death of his sister, he captures the one thing that was most precious to Ryou, her only biological daughter.
When Mai looks him in the eyes after he has brought in the human parts, her body begins to move on its own as she is forced to eat them.
After her stomach keeps bringing the parts back up, she eventually eats it all without hesitation, screaming about how delicious it is, leaving Kanishiro in partial confusion as to why Mai is eating the human flesh so willingly.
Eventually, Kanishiro leaves Mai near the outskirts of the Castle Town, and she is found barely conscious the next morning. As she is brought home, the only word she utters is "eat."
Next, we skip over to Mai's 18th birthday, where her cousin, Kaori, visits her, along with many other relatives.
Kaori Onidzuka is referred to as a "demon child." One who, after many miscarriages from Ryou's sister, was successfully born.
It is stated that animals are Kaori's only "friends," but it is also said that she kills and consumes raw animals as well.
During this party, a relative of the Shishikusas goes missing, while Mai is "nowhere to be seen." Ryou finds her, and Mai tells her mother she was "in the bathroom," leaving Ryou to immediately see through her lie.
Apparently, blood has also been found in her room while she was gone, and her parents become concerned and decide to talk to Mai privately about it.
When Ryou asks Mai why she has been lying to her, Mai stays quiet.
Eventually, she confesses to eating the person who had gone missing. She then proceeds to lunge at her father and bite him in the neck, eating and chomping at it.
Then, Mai turns to Ryou and chomps at her neck as well, eating her own mother. Mai then eats the rest of her parents' corpses.
From Ryou's point of view, she says that for a split second, she saw innocence and joy in Mai's eyes, then her vision went blank, and her body felt light. The story from Ryou's point of view ends there.
The story then switches to Akari's point of view, taking place before she was kidnapped, as she describes the hardships of her life as a member of the fabled Oborodzuka Clan and how she can somehow communicate with the founder of her clan, Tsukuyomi.
Somewhere near the end, she's being attacked by some men from the Onigumo Clan, who later will bring her to the Shishikusas, with a voice in her head telling her to kill the attackers.
Akari blanks out and wakes up in a place she doesn't recognize and meets with Shikyou, the amanojaku.
Shikyou proposes a deal to Akari, and while she thinks about it, she transports her mind to Tsukuyomi's Black Sun Palace.
She tells Tsukuyomi that she has met with Shikyou. Tsukuyomi panics and tells her she has to get away from her because Shikyou is possibly trying to trick her in some way.
The blog has yet to be updated, as the story hasn't been concluded yet. From this point forward, everything else is theories and/or predictions simply from song lyrics and descriptions.
How Akari and Mai met and/or even got married is unknown, but they were supposedly doomed to never meet in the first place because if they did, something terrible would happen. This has infuriated Shikyou, who beheads Mai to try to stop this fabled disaster from happening and proceeds to return her head in a basket. This head basket was later given to Akari.
It is assumed that Akari and Mai were introduced to each other through a strange woman named Emi.
As Mai lay headless in her last moments, she dreams of a happy world inside her decapitated head, in which she could've stayed with Akari and lived a joyous life with her.
Onigumo to Kitsune no Shishi to
“Come now, welcome to the beast's dwelling.”
The first song chronologically in the Onibi series. It features Ryou Shishikusa, the wife of the Shishikusa Clan representative, and Akari Oborodzuka, a member of the Kitsune Clan, who possesses the ability to make people harm themselves.
Akari is kidnapped and handed over to the Shishikusa Clan, which runs a theater where they torture women in front of daimyos to entertain them for money.
Ryou Shishikusa then uses a demon blade that she earned many years ago, rendering Akari's powers useless, and stabs her in her abdomen, torturing her and eventually killing her. Before Akari dies, she gets her revenge by cursing Ryou's bloodline with a curse that would heavily turn them into violent cannibals.
Kitsune no Yomeiri
"They were doomed to never meet, they say her parents pampered her so much she went mad, nobody knows the truth."
The second song chronologically in the Onibi series. Mai Shishikusa, daughter of Ryou Shishikusa, is kidnapped by members of the Oborodzuka Clan and forced to eat human flesh.
She is returned home the next day and is no longer acting like herself as a result of both Akari's curse from the previous song and her kidnappers' treatment.
She then proceeds to consume multiple members of her own clan before eating her parents on the day of her birthday party in the middle of an important talk they were having with her.
Kimikage Enbukyou -Kitsune no Yomeiri-
"Come, let's talk about everything. You've been here many times, but..."
Not much context is given here, but it appears to show Mai's descent into complete madness due to Akari's curse, eating more and more people from Castle Town and possibly others.
Shikyou also appears in this song, and it seems she's extremely furious, screaming at the top of her lungs.
Fans theorize that this is due to her being angry with Akari and Mai for ignoring fate and ending up meeting because terrible things would happen if they met, and they did meet.
Shikyou Amanojaku
"This is a story of the Gods, the end of the other side, the truth which humans cannot touch, the beginning of the Fox's Wedding. Ga, ga, ga, asore."
This song is sung by a goddess named Shikyou, portrayed by Kagamine Rin.
She is the goddess of death in the Onibi series. She then talks about how the creations of the gods are worthless and shoddy because they don't believe in the gods or worship them much, while the gods need to trade their souls for humans to live.
She imitates and mocks Ryou and Mai for being atheists and not believing in gods and shows an orb of Mai's face as if watching her and trying to make sure she and Akari don't meet.
She then seems to watch Akari as she looks around, confused or rather terrified.
She also talks about how she will "award" people by killing them. Her preferred method of killing seems to be beheading people because she also talks about it a lot in her song.
Kubinashi Enbukyou
"A story of dead people."
This song takes place at the same time as Meikyou Oni Warabe and is named after a performance that the Shishikusas used to perform in their theater, which consists of killing a woman on stage.
A song depicting Mai living with the curse Akari gave her family as she wanders throughout the now-abandoned Castle Town, able to see the ghosts, spirits, and skeletons that her parents had killed as a result of said curse, leading up to her beheading by the goddess of death, Shikyou, while the skeletons dance around her and some watching her beheading at the same time.
Meikyou Oni Warabe
"The end is the beginning, abnormality is the consequence of kindness. Now, let's talk about the truth. This is the story of a certain parent and child."
This song takes place at the same time as Kubinashi Enbukyou.
This song is considered a bonus song for the Onibi series as it depicts the character, Kaori, Mai's cousin, who is represented by Hatsune Miku, and how she befriends and/or brutally kills and consumes her village's livestock.
The GUMI depicted in this song is Ryou's sister, who is also Kaori's mother.
In the end, a pair of hands are sticking out, walking slowly towards Ryou's sister while repeating the verses – "Kagome, Kagome," which are the lyrics for a children's game of the same name, before the hands catch up to Ryou's sister, the screen goes black.
It is unknown who the hands belong to or what happened to Ryou's sister after that.
Himeyuri Enbukyo
"It is a fate that won't be encountered, a sweet, singleminded love to project these unreachable thoughts. A charming finale, 'Star Lily Dance Performance.'"
This song is named after a performance that the Shishikusas used to have in their theatre, which consists of women and geisha acting; it is one of the performances that the daimyos got bored of.
The song depicts a dream by Mai, in which she lives with Akari in peace, as they live their lives out happily without any suffering or curses.
Now, note that this happens as Mai is actually getting decapitated and is slowly dying due to her beheading by Shikyou.
Onibi
"This takes place one hundred years after the story of the Kitsune and the Demon."
It is noted that this song takes place 100 years after the Onibi series; the only evidence of it being connected to the series aside from the description is the appearance of The Onibi in the song.
It is a song about a living doll who wants to kill her owner, who was also her murderer and torturer. The identity of the mysterious Miku is unknown, though she is referred to as the "doll."
At the end of the song, the doll is inside its owner's closet, waiting for her to fall asleep while wondering how to kill her.
Then, when she finally falls asleep, the doll appears to take its revenge, cutting off various parts of its owner's body before hiding her body parts in the closet, covering up most of the evidence.
Akkiyagyou
"Demons and the will-o'-the-wisp."
This song is not connected to the series; however, it does feature Mai with her head sewn into her body and Akari wearing a cracked golden fox mask and shiromuku.
Contrary to popular belief, this song is canon to the series; Masa stated that it's a story of what happens afterward and it's the destination of the dead.
Theories
This section will only include theories about songs that have not been explained in Masa's blog yet. For theories about specific characters, check out their pages here.
What will be mentioned below are all theories and assumptions going from lore tweets and song lyrics, and in no way canon unless confirmed by Masa.
Kubinashi Enbukyou
This song takes place at the same time as Meikyou Oni Warabe.
After Mai's Frenzied state and her devouring many people in her clan as a result of Akari's curse, it seems as if she finally calmed down.
She then begins to see skeletons surrounding her as she walks through the now empty Castle Town. The reason for this is Shikyou herself, as she created a world for the dead.
The skeletons could possibly be the spirits of her victims or those who were killed at the hands of the Shishikusas. Either way, they both lead to the same conclusion: these skeletons are the embodiment of vengeful spirits who refuse to move on and are tormenting Mai, either for her part in their suffering or because of her mother's and father's actions.
They begin to dance and sing, repeating "Ka ka ko ko, kakkou, kako," which is the word for "mosquito head," and begin describing how Shikyou will return the head basket of those who were "beheaded" while also talking about a village.
This is most likely referring to the story of a book which Ryou read, which goes as follows:
There is a village whose inhabitants were atheists; the narrator of the book states that after he saw Shikyou, mysterious incidents of cannibalism began occurring in his village. Then, he mentioned how the incidents had finally gotten to one of his friends and that when his friend's wife came to him at night, he slept with her.
But when he woke up in the morning, he discovered that he ate her. The story remains incomplete as Ryou closed the book out of disgust, but it is said that the village ended up cannibalising itself.
The skeletons could possibly be mocking this village and displaying Shikyou's immense power, as this incident was caused by her.
Next, Mai begins talking about a lively place where money takes away all the pain. She could possibly be referring to her kidnapping and time with Kanishiro or her family's theatre.
The skeletons then finally begin the "beheading dance performance" in the Shishikusa theatre, dancing around Mai, which is most likely an order from Shikyou with Akari present to witness Mai's beheading.
Towards the end of the song, Shikyou proceeds to behead Mai. The method of her beheading is unknown, but it could be a guillotine or a sharp object.
Then, Mai is shown holding her bleeding head as a skull is formed on it – possibly taking the place of The Onibi, portrayed by two red eyes above. This could be alluring to the fact that Mai is finally feeling The Onibi's suffering.
In the end, Mai's head is put in a basket and returned to Akari. It is possible that after that, Akari began looking for Mai's body, as shown by her asking a weeping cat where it's buried. The reason why Akari would look for it is unknown, but it's possible that she was looking to sew Mai's head onto her body to attempt to bring her back to life in a way.
Meikyou Oni Warabe
This song takes place at the same time as Kubinashi Enbukyou.
Concerning Kaori's father, it is possible that a servant who served Ryou's sister, named Tsuguwa, impregnated her. This name was mentioned in the song; however, it is not known whether it's a person's name or a grammatical error.
From the beginning, Kaori's birth is a strange phenomenon, as Ryou's sister was an alcoholic who miscarried many times, but a theory can possibly explain it. A mirror is mentioned a lot in the song, so we can assume that Ryou's sister owns a mirror in her room or household.
This is further alluded to in the song Kimikage Enbukyou -Kitsune no Yomeiri-, as Mai mentions a pregnant woman scrubbing at her stomach while looking at a mirror.
But there's a catch: the mirror contained a demon, and having witnessed Ryou's sister's many miscarriages, it decided to one day appear before her and aid her.
In the dead of night, Ryou's sister was looking at the mirror while scrubbing her stomach, wondering if she would miscarry the baby in her womb again until the demon appeared and offered her a deal.
The deal was that the baby in her womb would be born, but it would come at a price: the child would be a demon child, meaning that they would have to feed off, kill, and terrorise, in this case, animals.
It is possible that the deal included animals because Ryou's sister lived on a farm or near one; this is proven by the existence of livestock and animals near her and Kaori mentioning in the song that she is holding a weapon that is a crescent moon shaped, describing a sickle or a scythe. Both of which are farming tools.
Ryou's sister accepted the deal, and Kaori was born without any issues, but as she reached 10 years of age, Kaori began killing and eating animals.
The method that Kaori used to befriend animals could have been by luring them with a small drum in hand, as mentioned in the song, before killing them using a sickle or a scythe, then she proceeded to eat them, telling herself she will do the same tomorrow, as part of the demon's deal.
It is possible that Ryou's sister abused and tortured Kaori for her behavior, as it was mentioned in the song that a demon child, aka Kaori, is receiving ishidaki, which is a form of torture in which you kneel on triangular slabs and heavy stones are placed on your lap.
This continued until Akari cursed Ryou's bloodline, and as a result, Kaori is now affected by the curse, too. While Kaori coped by eating and killing the livestock in the clan, she got tired of her mother's abuse and decided to end it all.
At night, Kaori offered her mother a game of Kagome Kagome to play outside with her "friends" - the remaining livestock – Ryou's sister, as a result of alcohol and tiredness, agreed. So Ryou's sister sat in the middle while Kaori and the animals circled her.
As the game went on, Kaori killed the animals one by one, with Ryou's sister not taking notice because of her drunkenness until there were no animals left at the circle.
Kaori went behind her mother and bit her or injured her in the neck, then proceeded to eat her along with the remaining animals until there were none left.
In the end, Kaori ran away from the Castle Town before it got barricaded, as all of the inhabitants were massacred by Mai, who was getting beheaded while Kaori was playing with her mother.
It is worth mentioning that the demon that offered a deal to Ryou's sister could be Shikyou, as she was mentioned in the ADULT version of the song and was seen watching Kaori in her main song.
Onibi
One hundred years after Mai's beheading and the Castle Town massacre, which only Kaori survived, Akari has been confirmed to have been sealed in her clan's alter, the same one Tsukuyomi was trapped in.
Shikyou just continued with her evil godly doings, whereas Emi's fate hasn't been confirmed; one could assume she is alive since she appeared in the remix of Himeyuri Enbukyo.
There's also the vengeful spirit of the Onibi. We don't know what or who she is exactly, but there is a common theory that the Onibi is an amalgamation of the spirits of the victims who have suffered under the hands of the Shishikusas. They then awaken when Akari curses Ryou, most likely as a result of her immense powers. After that, they begin seeking revenge against the Shishikusas.
Then, there is the mysterious Gumi, who is a descendant of Kaori, affected by Akari's curse. There's also the mysterious Miku doll. it's a fact she has a relation to Emi specifically, as they look "similar."
Emi was a doll maker, but there's a theory that expands on this. She makes dolls, sure, but these dolls possess spirits or yokai, so they are essentially living beings.
So Emi makes a doll, which is the Miku doll, but she somewhat manages to make the Onibi possess this doll and take it as some sort of vessel. The reason why is because of Emi herself, as she has been given the name of "Senju Kannon," the goddess of mercy whose sole drive was to allow souls to escape from endless suffering. Emi could have possibly been described this way because she made the doll specifically to try to relieve the Onibi's suffering.
The reason why the doll, and by extension, the Onibi, is with the mysterious Gumi is unknown, but the most logical answer would be that Emi made it and gifted it to Kaori, and it was passed down to generations and ended up with this Gumi. This could possibly be part of Emi's plan to relieve the Onibi's suffering by making it meet its tormentor face to face.
Based on the theories above, we can possibly come to a logical conclusion about what happened in the song:
Gumi got the doll, and the doll possessed the spirit of the Onibi. Gumi somehow knew this and began wishing it would die for the pain it caused her family for helping curse them for generations.
The doll shared the same feelings, wishing for Gumi's death, mocking and cursing her by saying that she doesn't understand her suffering, while also resenting her for being a cannibal and murdering people in her village because of Akari's curse.
But Gumi didn't pay her any mind and continued hating her more and more, even tearing her up and bending her neck to try to kill her, while the doll, in return, got more and more furious.
Eventually, the doll decided it was time for this to end and began plotting to murder Gumi, so she hid in her closet and waited for her to sleep.
Gumi went home and slept while the doll got out of the closet and murdered her in her sleep, cutting her up and then hiding her body parts in her closet. In the lyrics, It is shown that the doll is ecstatic to have finally killed Gumi, repeating "I did it" twice, alluding to how the Onibi finally got back at her tormentors after years of pain.
Then, after some time, Gumi came back, seen by her smiling at the end of the song. The reason for this is unknown, but theories can be made: She either got reincarnated, or her spirit came back as a result of Akari's curse finally wearing off on the 100th generation (as it is also theorized that the curse prevented the cursed from reincarnation). The doll screamed in annoyance and agony at the end, since she still couldn't get rid of her and could never relieve her suffering.
